I would like to see event announcements from other members. Perhaps in the comments section of a single event post?
I think this group will be what we make of it and event announcements would be a great addition to the blog and for the group. It might be interesting that when event announcements are posted, they include name, date, organization, event URL and location (region). Because we are so spread out, it would make it easier to gauge one's ability to attend, participate, cheer on, etc.

KIDS FEST 2008 - A Day For Kids sponsored by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware will be held on Saturday, June 14th, at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, Delaware. We will have free entertainment, games, rides and bounces. Kids come free, adults just $3. A benefit for the Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, website is www.kidsfestde.org
We expect 10,000 people and will have a former American Idol contestant performing!
